Birthday Weekend Festivities!

I had a quiet weekend. My husband wasn’t feeling well, and is currently lying beside me trying to rest in the middle of the day.  Something he is lousy at. The darling got up after I fell asleep on Thursday and made me a FODMAP friendly cake. It was delicious. I think there is some left. Very moist.

I also received a lovely crystal bunny. It’s called Rabbit with Roses. My husband has been buying me Swarovski necklaces for years. I also collect rabbits. My son also points out there are three roses and three people in the family. ❤

I spent most of the weekend puttering around cleaning out drawers and sorting my makeup so it’s accessible and neat. Not everyone’s idea of a good time, but one of my favourite things to do. I do think I overdid it a bit, as I woke up this morning a bit sore, but as my husband was taking his temperature, so did I. I’m running a slight fever, so I must have caught something going around here. We need to make time for our flu shots this year. Unfortunately my husband’s year end is October 31, so he’s very stressed.

As I was cleaning out my dresser, I found this little guy! A Zebra bunny! I collect bunnies, and I collect zebra things, because of EDS. 😊

I received so many birthday wishes this weekend. It was nice. A bit overwhelming! I’m not used to so many people! I got in touch with most people, I think I got everyone. There are a few people I still want to talk to, though.

I called my Grandma yesterday and had a nice long chat. So great. I miss her.

Christmas is already becoming an issue. I’m glad my husband has my back. My in-laws have a separate celebration so the families don’ t have to choose which family to see. My in-laws live an hour away, and last year they hosted and everyone went to a restaurant. I didn’t attend as I was ill. This year, my mother in law was lamenting my absence and was trying to make plans to ensure I could be there. My husband explained there was only a slim chance I could attend if it was in my own house, never mind making plans for me. And she is in her eighties and having trouble with stairs, so she’ s sacrificing a lot. With my head, even though it’s better than it was, I just don’t think the stress of the holidays is going to help it. Plus weather exacerbates the problem.

Next door has construction going on, which is one thing with the intermittent hammering, but then they’re blasting a television set and then drums? Am I in a psychological experiment? 😂😂😂 Duh, I think they are setting up sound equipment.

I’m a 10 out of 10

You know you’re gearing up for a migraine when you lecture a stranger in your dream for wearing too much perfume. I even gave her the speech on the proper distance you should be from someone before you first detect it. I was quite thorough. The proper distance, by the way, is conversational distance. That is where you should first detect someone else’s fragrance.  None of this where they walk into the establishment and you can taste it before you even see the person nonsense.

Anyway, I tried to play with makeup yesterday, but the migraine started creeping up. I continued, because it had been over a week! I played for a bit, then finally had a nap. Slept from 1 pm until 8:30 pm when my husband came to bed. I was so restless and uncomfortable.  I couldn’t settle my stomach. I didn’t have anything solid yesterday except for oatmeal for breakfast.

I couldn’t sleep last night, I was just awake, restless. I keep trying. I’d dissolve into tears every once in a while, the pain was so bad, and then it would dissipate. Then ramp up. Ugh. I would lie there, just trying to be still, trying to distract myself. Reading cat memes. Reading long form news stories.

I was supposed to have Botox injections for migraine and for pain management on August 22-ish.  Since then the migraines are back, I’ve had my first period in fourteen years, (Mirena) and I’m wracked with pain.

I have not heard back from the pain clinic. Realistically, it’s been 3 weeks? I think? It feels like an eternity. I feel like most of the pain right now is in the back of my head, whatever we are dealing with there. One month until my neurologist appointment.

It’s also been close enough to a month that I believe it is time to start harassing the EDS clinic again. I think we shall do those things, see where that leads us.

I’m interested to see if I have a period next month. The question: was the Botox contributing to my lack of menses? How? Dunno. Correlation does not equal causation yeah yeah. We will see.

Let’s tackle one thing at a time. I will certainly bring it up at the EDS clinic, I don’t know if they have a GYN on staff, but I will ask for a referral straight away, as well as for a gastroenterologist, as that doesn’t seem to be happening either.

Happily, however, my stomach seems to have settled and I no longer feel like throwing up my toenails. Yay Gravol!

Short term, I don’t seem to be sleepy. Or I am already dead. I occasionally find a comfy spot and all is happy for a while, so things aren’t terrible. I’m going to focus on medicating myself today, listening to podcasts, and maybe tv if I can. Tonight I’m definitely taking a sleeping pill, and back to that if I need to.

I was thinking of a warm bath, but moving…

I can do a month! Right?

And however long the EDS clinic takes…

Mercury in Retrograde

Mercury is supposed to be in retrograde the last two weeks of August, which is why I’ve had this horrible feeling of dread. Or so I’m telling myself.

I was so restless last night, I just could not settle. I was tossing and turning. I had to strip off my nightclothes, as they were getting all twisted up. I tried to make myself a nice pillow fort, but it didn’t work. Mostly, I kept swallowing air and having to sit up and clear it. Very uncomfortable. Not so ladylike, either.

I did fall asleep around 2:00 PM, though, and sleep until 9:00 PM. I usually have no trouble going back to sleep. I’ve been just exhausted, especially after getting outside to see the eclipse! (I will post about that soon!) .  At one point in our history, people used to go to bed around 7:00 PM, sleep until 11, be awake from 11 until 1 and then sleep from 1 to 5 or 6. I could live like that quite happily.

I don’t know if you believe in numerology, I tend not to, but this year my age is divisible by 7, and those do tend to be big years where I re-invent myself. I feel different this year. I have a new outlook. 😊

I bought yet another elbow brace. Size XXL.  Now, I’m not that big anymore, why do I need an XXL? Otherwise I’m ripping them off in agony in the middle of the night, only after a few hours. This one lasted seven. I do feel better, but woah, it’s sore. My hands are sore, too. I’ve been trying to rest them, but you really need your hands! XXL is pretty tough to find. I’m actually using sleeves, not braces. I will save braces until I’m fitted by pros.

Yesterday was supposed to be my BOTOX injections.  I haven’t heard anything from the clinic, but I’m doing amazingly well, considering. I’m not having that much head pain at the moment, but it does ramp up quickly as the day goes on. I’m having a ton of abdominal cramps. I am wondering if my cpap is contributing to my swallowed air. I need another sleep test. I’m to have them for every 20 lbs I gain or lose and I’ve lost 115 lbs without any follow up. It’s straight up due to my mobility. And, the pain therein.

And of course, just the stress. I feel stressed. I don’t really know why. Maybe it’s the start of school again. I worry about my kids. My boy didn’t have a great year last year. Grade 7 sucks, though. I need to focus on being relaxed today. My breathing. Relaxing. Perhaps some organization if I can. I love that.

My corner of the bedroom is bringing me joy. I am organizing things so they are easily found and accessible. I have a bunch of trinkets and items to make me happy. Netflix on the television, my makeup organized and close by. Masks and makeup products. Some cool magnifying and fisheye lenses, a zebra striped cuddle blanket. Enough braces to brace an army. Iced tea and lip gloss.

Life is good.

Drowning in Exhaustion

My migraine finally broke last night, but it’s been flirting around the edges of my brain, threatening to return with one wrong move.

Every day I start out happy and full of promise. With pain, of course, but I have plans for things to do, and stuff I want to accomplish! Soon, though, I’m worn out and wondering how much I can still push through. Trouble is, when I’m trying to take photos of the makeup I’ve accomplished, you can see the pain in my face if I push it too much. I suppose it’s a way of keeping me from too much.

I finally had a full bath today, instead of a sponge bath. It’s been tough to get in there, I’m so cold all the time. I feel better now. It took me ten minutes just to get warm. My lovely daughter babysat. I need help running the bath, and I like someone to stay on the second floor with me, so when I get out, in case I slip they can help. I’ve got such great kids. They don’t complain much.

My husband has been so exhausted lately. I miss him. I could barely speak when he came to bed last night. There are so many things I want to do with him (that too) but I’d like to start with a hug, or putting my head on his chest. I can’t get close enough to him yet. I’m too sore. He’s too stressed. The other day my daughter noticed a pair of my underwear that must have fallen when my husband went to put laundry away. It was kind of near the bed, not really obvious. She handed them to me, to which I cheekily replied, “oh, there those are! Wild night last night!” She’s 15, our bedroom doesn’t have a door and is right next to her bedroom. She gave me the ‘yeah, right’ face. 😂

The Sleep Monster!

The sleep monster has had me for the past couple of days. I start nodding off around eleven am, I get up around six am, so five hours isn’t bad… I decide to lie down for an hour or two and I end up sleeping for six or seven hours. I wake up just in time to have a small snack and go back to sleep. It’s very disheartening, because there are so many things I would like to do. We always hope this is temporary, but you just never know how long it’s going to last.

When these sorts of things crop up, we have to make decisions. Decide what our priorities are. Our worlds get smaller. We have to decide what to keep and what to cut. It’s not easy. Friends tend to pull away. I’m to weak to worry right now.

I’ve lost another five lbs. I’m on the verge of 200 at 202. I’d love to break 200, but I’m worried. This week was due to nausea and sleeping through dinner. Five lbs a week is also too much. What can I do? I eat when I can.

I am scheduled for Botox injections on April 4. That should help. Until then… I did receive the stronger Cannabis, both in THC, but mostly CBD, but husband needs to grind it, because even though it’s milled, I like it finer. Picky, picky!

This has taken a lot out of me. I need to rest. Soon.
