16 Years!

20171014_192216

It’s hard to believe, but we were married 16 years ago today! We still seem to like each other! 🀣 I know I like him, anyway!

He really is everything to me. He is everything fun in my life. We met on Halloween, 19 years ago. I feel both like I’ve known him forever, and I met him yesterday. Do you know what it’s like when you meet someone destined to be your family? He is my family. We do have two babies. Well, I was pregnant with one of those babies when we got married. I was told I couldn’t conceive, and we should start trying, so we could begin IVF right after the wedding…

Tonight will be a quiet night at home. He is exhausted, I am essentially bedridden, due to my chronic illness. That’s okay, we are homebodies. Restaurants are out, he has potentially fatal allergies, as do I. I have gastroparesis and the FODMAP diet makes eating out complicated.

He is exhausted from work, and I’m pretty hopped up on drugs due to my neck and head hurting so much. Although, Monday I’m going for migraine BOTOX injections. I am to talk to this doc about a neurologist. I’m starting to have fantasies about kidnapping a neurologist, forcing them to treat me, so something needs to happen soon.

Have a great evening!

I slept until 3:00 this afternoon. Β I woke to my husband stumbling into the bedroom declaring he just had a nap! This may be the first nap he has ever taken as an adult.

On Friday I was waiting for Pat McGrath’s lipstick collection to drop at noon, and at 11:45, I started vomiting. I managed to buy some lipstick, but then took a nap. Saturday, I was just as gross, and I finally figured out I may have the flu. Considering my daughter has it, and likely my husband does, and my son has been feeling awful… I just may be a genius. There’s been a nasty flu going around here, and my daughter has been having trouble since before school started. She’s either had it twice, or had an extended remix.

My mom was so sweet, she sent me some money on Friday to buy a treat to cheer myself up. From both her and dad. So sweet.

It was tough, but I had to put my Beauty Blog on hiatus until October 5th. I just don’t have the spoons to keep up with it right now. I’m so sad, because it’s one of my favourite things. I’m hoping the neurologist has a theory and I’m feeling better. I would like some answers and a plan.

When I can’t even do the small things, it’s a problem.

I need joy. To be able to supply joy. And I’m not even talking about sex. I’m so many layers below sex, you can’t even imagine. I have about ten layers to go before I even can think about sex.

On this level is bathing, reading, amusing myself, sitting up, and taking my medications. Not just staring into space.

Sigh.

Sucks to be Me

Actually, I’m not a loser, but my body sure is.

My head and neck pain is back with a vengeance. The Botox injections I had for my migraines and body pain definitely did alleviate some of the pain I was feeling. My shots are now three weeks past due. I have not heard from the pain clinic, but my husband is in regular contact.

In addition, my back is spasming like it’s made for it. Topping things off, I’m having menstrual-type cramps like you wouldn’t believe. I’m essentially curled up in a ball most of the day.

Just like the week before my shots, I’m exhausted and sleep a lot. It’s quite defeating. I keep reminding myself the neurologist appointment is on October 2. Just over two weeks away. At least I will have a plan. I hope.

I’ve had to put my Beauty Blog on hiatus until October 5th. Β It was such a tough decision to make, but I can’t provide quality at this time. I attempt to apply a face of cosmetics and I’m exhausted part way through. Ten minutes in. Add the photography, and content. I’m so exhausted. I’m so disappointed, as I really love that blog. I’m looking forward to my energy coming back.

My kids are struggling as well. I have another blog, because I have so much information for living with people with autism. Some anecdotes, some strategies, and some catastrophic challenges. Unfortunately, it’s been too much to get that started.

My daughter has either had the flu since the beginning of school, caught the flu twice, or is suffering anxiety. There has been a nasty flu going around, and I was at the ER, a great place for germs. My son has been refusing to attend classes, and been spending time in the office.

My husband, Angel that he is, has been holding everything together. He fell asleep last night with his tablet on his lap and dental floss in his mouth. Poor guy. He tries to stay up and entertain me, but 10:00 hit him hard. I managed to slip the floss out of his mouth and put his tablet away without waking him.

I’ve been sleeping most afternoons from 1 to 6 or 7 and then am up with my husband until midnight. He usually sleeps earlier. I wake up at 6 during the week and later on weekends. I’m sleeping a lot. It may be to escape the pain. I’m focusing on being right on time with my medication so I don’t have the pain build up. It really helps.

I’ve also been nesting. Any energy I have goes into organizing or reorganizing drawers in my bedroom, which is my comfortable space. I’ve bought dimmer light switches, mood lighting, decorative boxes to contain some of the clutter, a fuzzy zebra blanket, some cute file folders, and cute pencil boxes. I’m getting organized with style! Everything is within arms reach. I feel so cozy.

Even though my body is being a real jerk right now, life isn’t so bad. I’m quite happy and content, I just wish I had more energy to enjoy things more.

Hope you’re having a good day!

Doubt, Pain and Uncertainty

giphy13

Yesterday went slightly better for me. Strange, because we started the day with the lower THC marijuana, so I had lower pain relief, and I was hurting slightly more. I wonder if I take better care of myself on these days? Something to think about. I made sure I took in proper nutrition, and had some crackers my husband had bought over the weekend with some cheese, and I felt less tired. Hey, now! If I can time this right, perhaps I can work around the nausea and try to have some better food and thus, better energy. I’m pretty good at timing my vitamins now. One thing at a time.

I had a chance to play with a new makeup collection – the Urban Decay x Basquiat Collection – and had a blast. I didn’t make too much of a mess. I was so pleased! I played with new lights, and was happily able to take care of some personal grooming such as shaving my legs, applying a face mask, and I was going to settle down to write a few words for this blog when… okay, I fell asleep. I thought it was just going to be a small two-hour nap, just until my husband came home. It was four o’clock, after all.

Eight o’clock and chicken tortillas in my face indicated this was not to be. I was in quite a lot of pain as well. My abdomen is really bothering me, as is my neck, although it’s eased some. I’m coping. I mean, derangedly, but I’m coping. I have huge acne sores. I’m stressed all to hell, but I’m coping. I just don’t know what else to do except put on makeup because it’s fun, take photos, because that was a lot of work, and the photos are fun, too. Distraction.

I’ve cut my Beauty Blog to three days per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday now through the month of May. It’s heartbreaking, because it’s so much fun, but I had to give something up. Nobody would take my kids πŸ˜ƒ Likely because I didn’t offer them. My daughter is struggling a bit with her Autism and anxiety. Mama to the rescue! Poor kid. When Dad has Autism as well, it’s difficult because he wants to help, but he isn’t very adept at relating interpersonally. His approach is completely logical. Not necessarily what one needs in the moment. Fortunately he relates well to the hyper-logical boy.

Off to play for a bit!

Stay stripey, my Zebra loves! 😘

Feeling Okay

3o7hfy7wuigb6oovw8

It’s strange to wake up a couple of days in a row and not feel like you had been locked in the trunk of a car overnight. My back is still sore and my breasts have been inexplicably tender for the past couple of weeks. The nausea is still present, but quite diminished, which is a treat! However, the pain is so much less. I feel normal?

I did add to my troubles yesterday when I had dinner. My husband feeds me a half a cheeseburger with bacon for dinner on Saturday. We have been discussing the size of patty for a year now. I told him he needs to make them thinner or remove the bun. He grudgingly removed the homemade bun, but it was back last night. Knowing he went to the effort, I tried it. Wham! As I opened my mouth, and then wider I could hear the creaking of my jaw and then felt the flash of pain. I felt the whole bottom part move over? Is that a thing? I don’t think my jaw opens smoothly, it opens partway, then moves to the side to open more. I could hear the grinding and clicking, and then a snag. But the pain! I will speak to my dentist when I get there. I had a pretty bad headache last night, but I’m just a bit sore today. Soft food.

I did get lots of stuff done yesterday! Played around with my makeup, got some shots for my Instagram, Beauty blog. My daughter harassed some people to ask why they aren’t following my blog, it was sweet. πŸ’œ I must be dying πŸ˜‚

Vaping is the activity of the moment, more makeup (lots of stuff dropped this week) and hopefully I don’t try to overdo it!

Wishing you some pain diminished moments, Zebras! πŸ˜™

My Life as a Spoonie

tdem2gfnvo7hq

I go through these periods where I am just exhausted all the time. It happened yesterday. I lay down for two hours. Slept right through my alarm, and my family woke me up at 7:00 to have cake. Mmmm cake! There is an illness called Sleeping Beauty Syndrome. I’ve often wondered if I have a variant of it.

Cake!

My day typically looks like this:

  • Wake up at 6:00 am, hit the snooze for half an hour.
  • 6:30, washroom
  • Answer any questions or comments on Instagram and post until 7:00.
  • 7:00 am take medication. 13 pills. One mouthful.
  • Post on my Beauty Blog usually until 9:00 am.
  • Between 7 and 9 am, have coffee and oatmeal delivered by husband and daughter, coax son into going to school, monitor progress by text, and monitor daughter’s progress by text.
  • 9:00 am vape marijuana. While perusing Facebook and catching up with friends. Talking on phone, reading email, texting husband. Online shopping.
  • 11:00 start thinking about the EDS Chronicles.
  • 12:00 lunch and blogging. Lunch has been left for me by my husband. 1 oz of Lactose free cheese and some gluten-free crackers. I hate eating. I have cookies, too.
  • 1:00 my post is usually up, lunch is done. Here is where I either nap for a couple of hours or do something else. If the pain is bad, I sleep. I try to play with stuff for Instagram or my Beauty Blog. I want to read, too. But my concentration has been awful.
  • 3:00 Dr. Phil. I watch the first five minutes, call him a quack and tune out. Time for pills.
  • 4:00 sometimes my boy comes up and watches the Simpsons with me.
  • 6:00 is pill time.
  • 6:30 Husband is usually home around now. I’m still stuck in bed. Daughter rules downstairs, she just feels like she needs her space, and it’s so uncomfortable for me, so tough to get down there, it’s not worth it.
  • Between 8:00 and 9:00 I get the pictures for the next day ready.
  • Husband comes to bed around 9:00 and we have time together. It’s also melatonin time and time for marijuana oil.
  • 10:00 last pills of the day. I usually read a few last articles and then put my arm brace, mouth guard, and CPAP on and by 10:30 I’m out.

It’s been good not sleeping as much. I used to sleep all day almost every day. I was afraid I would never get enough rest. But I was tired all the time, anyway. This is different, though. This morning, I woke up and I couldn’t uncurl. I couldn’t straighten up. My abdominal pain is just so bad. My back pain. Maybe I’m having a childbirth flashback? πŸ˜‚ since it was my daughter’s birthday yesterday!

I pause a lot for rest and breaks in everything I do. I have cramps, my hands hurt. Things work out if I work to my limit and go slowly, but all it takes is one day to mess it up. One day where I want to go out. Then I am in bed for a week. I can’t do anything. In fact, I’m feeling the strain of the other blog. I’m just having so much fun, though. Why can’t I keep anything?

I’m supposed to meet my friend tomorrow. Β I hope she’s okay hanging here. I’m hurty. I’m still going to try to bathe. I have a sore on my hip. I find I get them even if I’m clean. It’s from skin rubbing together, right? They smell awful. I have cream. Ugh. I don’t have a lot of hanging skin from losing weight, but when stuck in bed, you get squished a lot.

My husband was super sweet the other day. I nearly had a conniption because Shoppers Drug Mart, a drugstore here in Canada, is now carrying Pixi Beauty! It’s a super high end drugstore, without high prices. It’s amazing. Anyway, we were having an ice storm here in Toronto, and they had stopped the streetcars, so he had walked partway from work, feeling terrible because he’s on steroids for his eyes, and he stops at the store whilst waiting for the bus and texts me asking what I want. So we settle on quite a few things,

20170208_215319

What darling husband bought for me $124 CDN

After the excursion, and he at first found the makeup, and he persevered and found the skincare, he just missed the bus and had to wait 30 minutes for another. What a sweetheart. He needs to do so much for me. Like cooking my dinner. Bringing it to me. Getting my clothes out for me when I go out. I don’t know what I would do without him. He’s also my very best friend. Imagine that!

I was too tired to eat dinner last night. I had just woken up from a nap, and I was still too tired. My back is killing me.

My husband had glaucoma and cataracts last year and needed surgery. He’s only 48. He’s had a bad infection that started before the surgery, they had it under control with steroids, but as soon as he went off them, it came back. Now he’s on super strong steroids and doesn’t feel well. He was complaining he didn’t like the general feeling of unwellness and achiness all the time. I just looked at him and he apologised! I laughed. It’s fine. It isn’t fun. Poor guy.

Be well, my zebras! 😘
